Make it easy!
We all know that fruit is healthy… and delicious! And no one is surprised to hear that we should eat 5 servings of fruit and vegetables each day. But in the hustle and bustle of everyday life, we sometimes forget and reach for fast or processed food instead.
Tray adding more fruit to your routine with these five tips:
Tip 1: Learn to love fruity desserts. Anyone who likes snacking on something sweet has the best chance of becoming a fruit fan. Denying ourselves is so yesterday. Feel like some cake? Then you really need to try our peanut butter banana brownies. Divinely sweet and fruity, our cocoa raspberry banana mug cake and plantain chocolate mousse will enchant you. Save room for a fruit-filled fruit dessert!
Tip 2: Choose a fruity breakfast. Starting your day with fruit is a refreshing way to wake up your taste buds and get a healthy dose of vitamins and minerals. Plus filling your belly with whole fruits means there will be less room for white bread rolls or sugary cereals. For breakfast, we recommend our speedy banana breakfast sandwiches– open faced whole grain sandwiches topped with sweet bananas! Our warm blueberry and banana pie oatmeal is also super delicious and makes a colorful splash. Our coconut acai bowls are bursting with vitamin power and fruity aromas, is sure to raise your spirits.
Tip 3: Pop some fruit in your lunchbox. Whether you’re headed to the classroom or the office, make sure to take perfectly portable fruit with you! Whole fruit such as bananas, pears, peaches and apples are great to have on hand, but if time allows you can even prepare a quick fruit salad sprinkled with lemon juice and honey. By the way, you don’t need to peel the fruit, as most of the vitamins are just under the skin. So what can you add to your lunchbox or Mason jar to increase your fruit intake? Our refreshing five spice fruit & avocado salad is one perfect option. Our grilled chicken vineyard wrap can be whipped up in a flash and is bursting with flavor. Our banana chia pudding with tahini will also provide you with that extra portion of fruit love.
Tip 4: Smoothies are always a good idea. These are true classics and always a fantastic way of getting more fruit into your day. Smoothies are quick to make, can be prepared in creative ways and are loved by young and old. Have a look in your fridge or fruit bowl and see what grabs your eye – smoothies can be conjured up from various combinations of bananas, apples, pineapple, grapes, berries and other fruit. Spinach, carrots and kale are just some of the vegetables that can be added to the mix too. Nuts, coconut water and chia seeds make a delicious highlight. We wouldn’t be Dole if we didn’t have a full selection of smoothies for you to choose from. Prepare yourself our carrot smoothie bowl, pineapple-turmeric smoothie, carrot, apple & strawberry smoothie and rainbow smoothie for trend-conscious smoothie fans!
Tip 5: Find your favorite fruit. Do you already know that you just don’t like melon? No problem! Go on a fruit adventure and make a point to try 1-2 new fruits each time you’re at the grocery store – who knows, you may even find a new favorite! Even if your tastebuds aren’t daring, you could experiment with varieties of fruits you already like. For example, if you like grapes and you usually get green, next time pick up a bag of red!
Tip: In the morning, put together a small plate of fruit and keep it within reach. The plate is guaranteed to be empty by the time evening comes. Gradually add new types of fruit and perhaps you will soon embrace these too. Another recipe to fall in love with: our ultimate fruit infinity jars!
