Proats: a healthy and nutritious breakfast
What is your healthy way to start the day? Proats could be a new breakfast idea for you!
The name ‘proats’ is a combination of the words ‘protein’ and ‘oats’. In our recipe we use curd cheese, as it is a great source of protein. In combination with oatmeal, which is rich in fibres, this makes a balanced and nutritious breakfast. Top your proats with fresh fruit and some nuts for additional vitamins and minerals.
Not only that proats are the perfect breakfast before heading to gym, they also require no cooking and can be prepared the night before so you can either eat them at home or on the go.
Ingredients
- 50 grammes oats
- 100 milliliters milk or water (also works with soy or almond milk)
- 1 teaspoon of honey or agave nectar
- Cinnamon, vanilla or any other spices you prefer
- 3 tablespoons of low-fat quark
- Some berries
- 1 tablespoon mixed nuts
Directions
Mix the oats, milk, honey and spices in a jar. Top with curd cheese and do not stir anymore. Close the jar and leave it in the fridge overnight. The next morning, add fruit and nuts and enjoy directly out of the jar. How do you like this new breakfast idea?
