Drying grapes – make your own raisins

Drying grapes – make your own raisins

Raisins make a great vitamin-packed snack or a tasty addition to muesli. The best thing about them is that they are really easy to make at home from grapes. Today, we explain how you can dry grapes in a few steps.

How to dry your grapes:

Seedless grapes are best when it comes to making raisins, and you can use one of the following methods:

Method 1: Drying them in the air

Of course, this is best done during the summer. Simply wash the grapes and lay them out in direct sunlight on some kitchen paper during the day – take them in at night. Tip: Placing a bug screen over the grapes will protect them from unwelcome visitors with a sweet tooth. After a few days, the grapes dry out. And hey presto – you will have some delicious raisins!

Method 2: Drying grapes in the oven

Perfect for the cold season and also quicker! Once again for this method, wash the grapes and pat them dry. Then lay out the fruit on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and place the baking sheet in the oven. Leave the grapes in the oven for a few hours at a low temperature, approx. 50  C, where they will dry nicely. This happens because the heat removes the moisture from the fruit. Snacking fans will thus soon be able to enjoy homemade raisins.

For long-lasting enjoyment, the raisins should be cooled and then stored in an airtight container.

So drying grapes is really easy to do and also lots of fun!

Trust the grape!
