Dale Foundation

What does a banana researcher do?
Orlando Rojas is one of the dedicated "banana researchers" at our Rio Frio laboratory. He and his team, led by Dr. Munoz, carry out organic studies to find new ways of producing plants and fruits and protecting them with minimal intervention. Find out what his working day is like!

How do we recycle?
Dole uses plastic covers to protect the growing fruit. As much plastic waste as possible is collected, sorted and reused or compressed into bales and recycled. Watch the video to find out how.

The environmentalist

Yesenia Villalobos Elizondo has an important job on the farm: she makes sure the pineapples grow optimally. She has to prune the pineapple crowns with great skill, as well as care, because the fruit is guarded by long, pointed leaves. In her free time Yesenia is a keen football player. The growth cycle of a pineapple
The pineapple plant is planted very carefully in well prepared soil. It grows best in a tropical climate where the nights are mild and the days are hot and sunny. The many tiny flowers turn into small berries which join together to make a pineapple fruit.
