How do you pick a grapefruit?
All grapefruits have the same round shape, but they vary in flavour. Generally, the sweeter red varieties come from sub-tropical regions, such as Florida and Honduras. Grapefruit from drier regions, like Israel and South Africa, are sharper tasting. At the supermarket or the greengrocer’s, go for firm, heavy grapefruits with undamaged skins.
How do you prepare a grapefruit?
Grapefruit can be eaten on it's own - simply cut in half and eat sections with a spoon, or peel and eat like an orange. It can also be cooked; broiling grapefruit is a popular method.
How do you store a grapefruit?
Grapefruits do not ripen after harvest, so you can store them at room temperature for a couple of weeks.
