Picnic Party
Packable and tasty meals - to go!
Is there anything nicer than a picnic under a great blue sky with your loved ones and a few tasty snacks? Today we’re sharing a few packable recipes that will hopefully help you take your mind off of what to pack for an afternoon of outdoor family fun.
Summer snack 1: Colorful Pasta Salad
Pasta salad is always a good idea! It’s super quick to prepare for spur-of-the-moment excursions, holds extremely well when chilled on an ice pack, and goes with just about anything. This smart and hearty snack is the ideal choice for a picnic. Simply pop it in a large dish and let everyone help themselves. How about our recipe for our Calico Pasta Salad?
Summer snack 2: Quick Wraps
Homemade wraps are handy and easy to customize for your family. Just take a whole grain wrap; simply add your choice of fillings – fresh lettuce leaves, tomatoes, pineapple and grilled chicken would be perfect for example. But why not try a fruity version with your favorite nut butter? With no cutlery needed, wraps are the perfect choice when you’re having outdoor fun.

Summer snack 3: Handy Fruit Kebabs
Fruit kebabs also have great potential as a summer snack for the whole gang. Simply arrange a selection of fruit – melon, pineapple, grapes, berries and kiwi, for example, onto wooden skewers, take them with you wherever you go and share them with friends. Tip: How about making the preparation itself an event for the whole family? Once fruit is cut, it would be easy for little ones to make their own combinations to enjoy later! Layer in a plastic container or large zip lock bag for easy travel!
Summer snack 4: Refreshing Chia Pudding
Ice cream isn’t the only cool down treat in town. For this outing, give chia pudding a try! This trendy dessert is also a tasty summer snack and a more wholesome alternative. For each serving take 2T chia seeds and mix with about ½ cup of milk in a mason jar. It will work with any milk, so feel free to use what you have on hand. Shake well and let sit overnight in fridge. Top with raspberries, mango and pineapple. Yummy!
Summer snack 5: Cake with a Twist
Cake as a summer snack? We think so! Especially when it’s Bananas Foster Upside- Down Cake! This version is made with wholesome ingredients like white, whole wheat flour, applesauce and bananas. This cake is easy to cut into handy “bars” for easy sharing on the go. This delicious and rich treat is guaranteed to be a hit with the whole gang.
It all tastes better together!
