Experience the globe through food!

According to a March 2022 survey, appetite for travel is on the rise, but concerns for health have been replaced with concerns about finances.  The wonderful thing about food is that you can take a trip around the world without leaving the comfort of your home!  Here are a few of our favorites. 

Grilled Lemon Shrimp with Greens Tzatziki :  This recipe for tzatziki combines greens from DOLE® Italian Blend bag with a light cucumber relish. Mint, feta and sumac provide the perfect counterpoint to the charcoal-smoke flavor of the shrimp. With a bold citrus flavor, this dish is a wonderful taste of the Middle East.

Asian Hand Rolls :  When making sushi, the only limit is your imagination.  This laid-back hand-rolled version is the ice cream cone of sushi because when rolled it’s closed at the bottom and open at the top allowing for all of the delicious and colorful filling invite you to eat!  

Mofongo and Salsa Simmered Shrimp :  Plantains are center stage in this Puerto Rican dish.  They are seasoned with garlic and broth and then mashed with a mortar and pestle to make the most perfect vehicle for saucy shrimp.  This dish evokes island vibes all day long. 

Anyone Can Cook Coq Au Vin :  Channel the French countryside with our Coq Au Vin!  This version uses chicken instead of Rooster to make it accessible for the home cook.  Bonus: it’s not as complicated as it sounds to make!

Vegan Gyros :  Throughout Europe the gyro is a street food that is characterized by serving meat, sliced from a spit, on a folded pita.  Our version uses seitan, homemade tzatziki and vegetables folded within whole wheat pita. 

Hawaiian Style Fried Cauliflower Rice :  Rice is a staple of the Hawaiian diet.  While it can be found at virtually any meal, when it comes to fried rice every family has their own version.  We’ve lightened up our version to use cauliflower rice while still incorporating the island feel with sweetness of pineapple and richness of macadamia nuts.
